Here are answers to some questions that might puzzle the mind of a first time visitor of these pages:

What is Contrast?

Contrast is five-piece band from Vaasa, Finland.

Who are these guys?

Check out our line up here.

So what kind of music do Contrast play?

Well this is always the hard part - trying to explain ourselves without categorizing ourselves too much. Basically our music could be called metal but we mix all types of other music in there as well. Other types of music include hip-hop, triphop, pop etc. in other words anything that we feel like playing.

So how's Contrast live?

Well we tend to pack a lot of energy on stage which mostly means sweat, aggression and maximum air-time.

Name some bands you sound like then?

No. We're not trying to sound like any other bands - although we don't claim to be the most unique band in the world, either - so no free ads here.

What are your lyrics about?

We try to keep from explaining things too much because it's always best to figure things out yourself but let's say that one of the main issues we handle is politics on a personal level i.e. what goes on in people's head's, yours and mine. We also try to keep away from writing songs about things we don't know anything about which is a major problem with bands with political lyrics.

Is there anything on tape or disc from Contrast?

Yes. We have put out three demotapes and one MCD so far. First of the demotapes we did with our first vocalist and the other two with the new line up. The MCD was the first recording to feature the new bassplayer Nicke Hägen.

The first demo was called "Entertainment for Men" and it was released sometime late 1995. The two newer demos, released respectively in summer 1996 and spring 1997, are called "Long Live the Win" and "Full Flavor", neither of which is available anymore. The MCD "Release" was put out in early March 1998 and if you'd like a copy of this record (35 FIM/7 USD), please contact us.

We are also featured on the Farewell to Arms compilation CD by AKL. This CD came out late February 1999.

Stay tuned for the CST-website for info on a new release coming out in May 1999.
